About Stefan Schmid

From Germany to Brazilectro to Amsterdam Studio owner

& Royal Conservatory Teacher

Stefan is pianist and keyboard player, improviser, sound designer & engineer, live and studio player.

Stefan has numerous releases with his main project Zuco 103 after being part of the 90’s acid jazz scene of Amsterdam with New Cool Collective and their Big Band offshoot.

He worked with top-rated artists as a studio musician and producer, recording with heroes as Lee Perry, Airto Moreira and Joe Jackson.

Schmid has a long experience with live sequencing and a love for electronic music which made him collaborate with numerous musicians (a/o Paul Weller, The Metropole Orchestra, Rednosedistrikt, Jesse van Ruller, Amsterdam Kletzmer Band, Raise the Roof and Awanto3) , vocalists, DJ’s, MC’s and electronic music producers.

Stefan Schmid is a long time Ableton Live, LogicPro and ProTools user.
His latest project, Los Calxunxos Tuyos (with Jos de Haas) plays fully improvised dance music with

the sound of an organ, drum computers, samplers and live percussion.

Stefan Schmid hopes to return touring in 2021 with Zuco 103:
 "Still going strong after 21 years, the musical bond with my mates Lilian Vieira and Stefan Kruger will never cease to exist. Having played the smallest and the biggest stages of the world we are still creating new music and playing live as much as we can. We can’t wait to return to the stage ASAP with our band mates Valentijn Bannier - Guitar and Alex Oele - Bass."

Besides all this Stefan also gives music lessons at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and has kept on working on other projects resulting in his own 150m2 recording & producing Studio D Amsterdam.
